Application of Oxygen-Functionalized Phosphines as Supporting Ligands in the Palladium-Catalyzed Suzuki-Miyaura Reaction

Ferrocenyl phosphines with methoxy and hydroxy groups have been synthesized and evaluated as supporting ligands in the palladium-catalyzed Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction. It was found that the phosphine having methoxy group as supporting lidand afforded better palladium catalyst with Pd(OAc)<sub>2</sub>, which can catalyze electron-rich aryl bromides and electron-deficient aryl chlorides to couple with phenylboronic acid to form the corresponding biaryls in high yields.
