From a viewpoint of synthetic organic chemistry, the recent developments and applications of montmorillonite clays and chemical modified montmorillonite clays in catalysis of organic reactions are reviewed with 109 references. In these examples the catalysts demonstrate much more efficient and selective behaviour in catalysis than conventional counterparts.
