Alkylation of 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds with allylic alcohols was performed smoothly in good yields (62%～90%) under solvent-free conditions with SiO2-supportted CeCl3?7H2O-NaI as a highly efficient and recyclable catalyst. This catalyst system could be easily recovered and then reused in the alkylation at least four times without significant loss of catalytic activity.
