  The recent progress in controllable organic reactions induced by visible light without external photocatalyst is reviewed by Wang and co-workers on page 1883. Since no additional photosensitizer is needed in the reaction, it makes the reaction system more simple and feasible, and indicates the future development direction for visible- light-induced organic transformations.
- About the Cover:
  
  A novel method to synthesize difluoroethyl compounds has been successfully developed by Cao, Niu, Jiang, Qu and Chen on page 2098. The ortho-chlorodifluoroethylation reaction of acetanilide has been realized under mild conditions, using chlorodifluoroethyl(mesityl) hypervalent iodine reagent (CDFI) as the source of CH2-CF2Cl. Moreover, the difluorovinylated acetanilide products have been obtained via an elimination reaction.
