Hantzsch ester was identified as a potent and very mild organic reductant to replace highly sensitive metal reductants in reductive Heck reaction. This reaction features mild reaction condition, broad substrate scope, and good functional group compatibility, thus providing an alternative approach for hydroarylation of alkenes. -
