In this paper, the relative rate of the ester exchange reaction of the phosphoryl histidine (N-DIPP-His) and other phosphoamino acids with primary alcohols was compared by ^3^!P NMR spectra. It showed that N-DIPP-His was the fastest one. The mechanism was proposed that due to the participation of the imidazole group, the phosphorus could be transformed into a hexa-coordinate transition state which was much favorable for the group exchange reaction.

25,26,27-trinor-B-homo-7-oxa-6-keto-5α-cholest-3α,24- diol (9a), which is a brassinolide analog, was synthesized through six steps from 3. The overall yield was 14%. The bioactivity of 9a is 60% that of 24-epibrassinolide.

Nine new optically active N,N-dialkyl-β-aminoalcohlos synthesized from natural amino acids reacted with borane in THF to give chiral oxazoborolidines. The borane modified by chiral oxazoborolidines enantioselectively reduced aliphatic and aromatic ketones to yield sec-alcohlos with 100% yield and medium to high optical yields. Some influences of steric effect, reaction temperature and solvent effects were discussed.

Syntheses of metalloporphyrin compounds 3 were accomplished to mimic the natural cytochrome P-450. The micelle made of surfactant, lauryl trimethyl ammonium bromide, and long chain alkoxyl phenyl porphyrin is employed as a biomimetic enzyme and the results of epoxidation of styrene shown that the metalloporphyrin appended with a long hydrocarbon chain does have superior catalytic efficiency over the simple 5,10,15,20-tetratolyl porphyrin. The present experimental findings demonstrate evidently that the hydrophobic microenvironment provided by the aggregate long hydrocarbon chain in the micelle do play an important role in the epoxidation of styrene.

Two novel monoarmed alicyclic 18-crown-6 liquid crystals were designed and synthesized in an attempt to lower the phase transition temperature of crown ether liquid crystal. They were synthesized by treating hydroxymethyl 18-crown-6- with chloride 4-(4'-n-butoxybenzoyloxy) benzoylate or cholesteryl chlorocarbonate respectively. The phase transition temperatures were determined by DSC and polarized microscopy were found to be as follows: T~K~N, 4.0℃; T~N~I, 33.5℃ for the former and T~K~S, -22.4℃; T~S~N, 6.8℃; T~N~I, 40.1℃ for the later. The characteristics of Y-type LB film were observed from the LB film prepared with equimolecular stearic acid and the new liquid crystal.

A synthetic route of the title compound, a new dihydrogenated derivative of lavendulol, starting with readily available isoanyl from the distillation residue in the ethanol production process with sugarhouse molasses in South China is described. Phase-tramsfer catalytic condensation of isoamyl chloride with acetone gave 6-methyl-2-heptanone in a yield of 43% , which upon methylation and dehydrochlorination led to 2,6-dimethyl-2-heptene. Prins reaction of the alkene with paraformaldehyde in stannic chloride-dichloromethane afforded the final product in a yield of 41.2% . Dihydro (4,5) lavandulol seems to be a mimic with nice but a little milder lavender scent.

Two flavones are isclated from leaf and stem extracts of panicle-differentiating to flowering rice (Oryza sative L. ) plants. Based on the spectroscopy analysis, the structures of these two compounds are identified as 5,7,4'-trihydroxy- 3',5'-dimethoxy-foavone (A) and 5,4'-dihydroxy-3',5'- dimethoxy-7-β-D-glucosyloxy-foavone (B), respectively. These two compounds were able to strongly induce vir gene expression of Agrobacterium tumefaciens.

A new chiral reagent L-α-trifluoroacetoxy propionyl chloride was easily synthesised by reactions of L-lactic with trifluoroacetic anhydride and thioryl chloride. Racemic amine and amino acids were resolved by derivatization to their corresponding diastereoisomeric amides with L-α- trifluoroacetoxy propionyl chloride on a capillary column with Carbowax 20 M as the stationary phase of gas chromatography. Under the same conditions, L-amine and L-amino acids were determined. The D-isomers of racemic amine and amino acids were found to have shorter rentention time.

The EI mass spectra of sixty-six new fluorinated liquid crystal compounds, including three types, were studied. The fragmentation mechanism has been discussed. The results may be summarized as follows: for type A , the C---O bond cleavage of centric bridge occurred predominatly leading to formation of the ion which was very easy to lose C~nH~2~n; for type B, the α-cleavage of the centric bridge carbonyl gave the characteristic ion and for type C, they all showed strong molecular ion peaks, the fragmentation pathways of the latter were very simple.

Seven unsymmetrical benzimidazdo-thiacarbocyanine dyes were synthesized by condensation of 2-(β-anioiovinyl)- 5-R-3-(γ-sylfopropyl) benzothiazolium betaine with 5,6- dichloro-1-ethyl-2-methyl-3-(γ-sulfopropyl) benzimidazolium betaine in Ac~2O-NEt~3 medium. A linear relationship between the Brooker deviation value of the unsymmetrical dyes and the Hammett σ~m-constant of the substituent R at the 5' position of benzene ring (benzothiazole heterocyclic nucleus) was observed. The sequence of the basicity of the nitrogen atom in the substituted benzothiazol heterocyclic ring was found to be 4,5-benzo>5-CH~3>5-H>5-OCH~3>5-F>5-Cl> 5-CF~3 .

All complexis were characterized by elemntal analysis, ^1H NMR, IR and UV spectra, which showed that dithiocarbamic acid coordinates as a bidentate ligand with metal.

Addition of the aromatic α-oxo ketene cyclic dithioacetals with methallyl Grignard reagent afforded the carbinols 3 . Catalyzed by BF~3·Et~2O, carbinols 3 were converted to the corresponding aromatic ethers 4 when the reaction was performed in alcohols used. While catalyzed by silica gel, the β,γ-unsaturated aromatic ketones 6 were obtained from the decomposation of 3. The possibility of 1,4-asymmetric induction in some nucleophilic addition reactions of chiralγ-amino Z-enals 7 with organolithium compounds was investigated. The reactions of lithium enolates with 7 led to good diastereoselectivities (d.e.: 60~90%), and high level of diadtereoselectiveties (d.e.: 74~86%) was also observed in the corresponding reactions of alkyllithium. This means that a novel remote 1,4-asymmetric induction results in these reactions.

Two metal-metal singly bonded compounds containing η^5-pentabenzlcyclopen tadienyl ligand [η^5-Bz~5C~5(CO)~3M]~2 (1 M=Mo , 2 M=W) were synthesized in 45% and 19% yield through the reaction of η^5Bz~5C~5(CO)~3 M Na with a combined oxidative reagent Fe~2(SO~4)~3/HOAc/H~2O . Further decarbonylation of 1 in refluxing toluene gave the metal-metal triply bonded compound [η^5-Bz~5C~5(CO)~2Mo]~2 (3) in 98% yield. The structures of 1~3 were characterized by C/H analysis IR, ^1H NMR and MS spectroscopies. The structure of 3 were characterized by C/H analysis IR,^1H NMR and MS spectroscopies. The structure of 3 was further confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis.

Asymmetric allylation of 2-nitrocycloketones was catalyzed by palladium with chiral ferrocenylphosphine ligand modified by monoaza crown ethers (A~D) . The effects of the structure of ligands and substrates, the type of alkali, and reaction time on rate of reaction and stereoselectivity were discussed. The stereoselectivity was improved by increasing steric hindrance of the reactions .

A new and simple method for the preparation or α-keto acids (4) is described. Treatment of the readily available trimethylsilyl 2,3-bis (trimethylsiloxyl carboxylates) 1 with trifluoroacetic anhydride under the catalysis of 4-N,N- dimethylamionopyridin in dichlorethane yields triment hylsilyl 2,3-bis (trifluoroacetoxyl) carboxylates (2). Pyridine is added in the reaction mixture to yield 2-trifluoroacetoxyl 2- alkenoic acids (3). Treating 3 subsequently with aqueous potassium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid affords 4.

The equilibrium geometries of 5-Methylthio-3-N-phenyl- 2,3-2(H)-1,3,4,2-Thiadiazaphosphenium Cation and other two related organophosphorus molecules have been optimized at the level of ab initio molecular orbital calculation with STO-3G basis set by use of the analytical energy-gradient technique. The optimized geometries show that the chemical bonds in the phosphenium cations are different from those in the corresponding three-coordinated phosphorus systims. From the three-coordinated phosphorus to the phosphenium cation, because of the formation of the new conjugated system containing the phosphorus atom, the length of the single bonds become shorter and the length of the double bond become longer. The numerical results obtained from the ab initio CI calculations at the equilibrium geometries show that the relative values for the positive charges of the phosphorus atoms are in good agreement with the relative values for the chemical shift of ^3^1P NMR and for the molar conductivity .
